近几年中国的婴儿纸尿裤市场以20%～40%的年增长率迅速发展，2007年的市场渗透率达到17.3%，市场规模约100亿元。随着中国社会老龄化，成人失禁用纸尿裤的市场也开始启动。
毫无疑问，纸尿裤给生活带来了方便，有利于使用者和护理者的健康卫生，为失禁患者带来自立和尊严。但随着纸尿裤市场的迅速发展，行业协会组织和主要的生产商认识到应该在全行业大力倡导确保产品安全性和可持续发展，增强生产企业的社会责任感和环境友好意识，不断改进技术和产品，更高效地节约利用自然资源，促进行业的健康发展。
“和谐环境，关爱生活——纸尿裤、环境与可持续发展论坛”由中国造纸协会生活用纸专业委员会联合宝洁、金佰利、恒安、尤妮佳等企业共同发起，将于10月20日在上海举办。工业与信息化部、中国轻工联合会、中国造纸协会的有关分管领导将莅临会议指导，卫生用品主要生产企业的负责人和各有关媒体的记者将出席会议。主办方旨在通过这项公益性活动，使有关企业加强自律，积极创新，做到环境友好；使政府有关部门、媒体及公众全面了解纸尿裤的安全性、环境影响和可持续发展；介绍行业在可持续发展方面所作的各项努力、所进行的革新和取得的进步，以及在社会进步和经济发展方面的贡献和今后持续努力的方向。
Dr. Ioannis Hatzopoulos
is an External Relations Manager for Procter & Gamble in Western Europe in the Baby & Toddler Care products business.
Dr. Hatzopoulos studied chemistry at the University of Frankfurt, Germany, and received his Ph.D. in photochemistry at the Institute of Physical & Theoretical Chemistry, Frankfurt.
He has been lecturer at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and at the Institute of Photomedicine and Photobiology at the University of Padova, Italy. His scientific work has been recognized and supported by the Advanced Study Institute (ASI) of the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), by the European Photochemistry Association (EPA), and by the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation, Athens, Greece.
He joined Procter & Gamble in 1995 as a scientist. He led Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) research for the company and was responsible for human and environmental safety of baby and feminine care products in the Professional & Regulatory Services unit. He subsequently was appointed Senior Scientist in 1999, assuming additional responsibility in the area of Sustainable Development and waste management for personal care products.
In 2000, Dr. Hatzopoulos moved to P&G External Relations supporting the Baby & Family Care business for Western Europe. In this capacity, he also represents the company in environmental and sustainability matters at European level through various industry associations. In 2003 he was appointed Chairman of the Sustainability & Environmental Working Group of the Absorbent Hygiene Products Manufacturers Committee of EDANA.
In 2004, he advanced to Manager of P&G External Relations. In 2006 he was appointed member of EDANA Board Sustainability Working Group. From 2002 to 2005 he has been invited to join the Project Advisory Board of the UK government that had commissioned the LCA study on reusable and disposable diapers, led by the UK Environment Agency.
Dr. Hatzopoulos has authored and coordinated the 1st ever EDANA Sustainability Report published in 2005, and led also the 2nd EDANA Sustainability Report published in 2007/08. He manages several of EDANA’s sustainability programs and efforts as member of the EDANA Sustainability Board Group.
Dr. Hatzopoulos is frequently invited as speaker at various sustainability conferences across Europe and beyond. He recently presented EDANA’s sustainability program at the OUTLOOK conference in Portugal in September 2008. He also authored several publications on Environmental Management and use of LCA on absorbent hygiene paper products and packaging, as well as on Sustainable Development, as a challenge and an opportunity for absorbent hygiene products.
Jim Bath
is currently the Director of Sustainability for North American and European Personal Care businesses. He has responsibility for developing a sustainability strategy and consulting on implementation activities for diapers, training pants, toiletries, wet wipes, feminine care and adult care businesses.
Mr. Bath began his career with Kimberly-Clark in 1988 as an Engineer at KC’s Ogden diaper plant. He has held a variety of positions in the Engineering, Operations and Research and Development functions. These roles have been though out the Personal Care business unit including diapers, baby wipes, adult care and feminine care. He was named to his current role in October of 2007.
Mr. Bath was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
Mr. Bath is based at Kimberly-Clark’s headquarters in Neenah. He and his wife, Teresa, live in Appleton, Wisconsin and have two children.
